Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav while addressing the BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ march at Maharana Pratap Inter College in Gorakhpur on Wednesday.
Describing Rahul Gandhi as a “failed rocket”, Yogi said repeated attempts by Congress to relaunch him had failed. Responding to Akhilesh’s remarks about taking revenge, he said democracy was about bringing change, not seeking revenge.
The Chief Minister also criticised opposition parties over their objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, questioning their opposition to removing names of alleged illegal immigrants and deceased voters.
Targeting the opposition over allegations concerning EVMs and the Election Commission, Yogi said parties celebrated electoral victories but questioned institutions after defeats.

He also raised the Emergency of 1975 and the 1984 anti-Sikh violence, demanding accountability from Congress. Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s law-and-order record, he claimed that more than 1,500 riots had occurred during previous SP governments.
BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Union ministers Pankaj Chaudhary and Kamlesh Paswan, MP Ravi Kishan and several state ministers attended the programme.
